Jane Marchant from Alchemille Garden Design was going to be selling plants, unfortunately on Wednesday 11th it rained a great deal so she organised a plant sale in Speen on Saturday 14th with profits going to SHH with the help of her daughter Lulu they raised £90 for SHH - Thank you so much Jane and Lulu.

History of the SHH Annual Ladies Spring Lunch

This fundraising for hospices group has been holding an Annual Ladies Spring Lunch for years. Looking at the Fundraising page before 2019 on the SHH website the first one actually featured was in 2007 at Great Hampden Village Hall in Great Hampden. Friday 27th April 2007. This was organised by The Speen Supporters' Group (SSG) and the lunch included a complimentary glass of wine plus various trade stalls for jewellery, plants and beauty products etc. In 2009 the event was at the same location on Friday May 15th.

By 2012 the lunch had moved to its new home at Sefton Barn at The Home for Rest for Horses, Speen.It became known as The Speen Group's Annual Spring Lunch and that year was held on it was on Friday 18th May.The Speen Group's Annual Spring Lunch in 2013 was held on Friday 7th June and Friday 16th May in 2014.

In 2015 the group had changed its name to the present one of Speen Helping Hospices (SHH).

After that the lunch continued in May each year until 2020 with Covid19 restrictions. There was no event in 2020 or 2021 and it started again in 2022 with the same format as it was in from 2007 onwards, but always in May. In 2025 the committee introduced a Ladies Autumn Lunch that is held in October each year. Like the Ladies Spring Lunch it is very popular and tickets sell out very quickly.
