History of the SHH Annual Christmas Market

This fundraising for hospices group has been holding an Annual Christmas Market for years. Looking at the Fundraising page before 2019 on the SHH website the first one actually featured was in 2012 on the 9th and 10th November at the King William IV pub in Speen. These two day Christmas Markets were held at the King William up to November 2015. The pub closed down after Christmas that year.

The committee had to find a new venue and one large enough, but decided to move to Lacey Green Village Hall in November 2016.The event would just be on a Saturday. Lacey Green Village Hall was again used in 2017.

In 2018 as more space was available at Speen Church it was decided to make the move back to Speen. It was also held in November 2019 and just held on a Saturday.

In 2020 with Covid 19 taking over, the idea was put forward to hold an outside Christmas Market in the marquee at Speen Playing Fields. Unfortunately, further regulations came in, and this event could not go ahead. A lot of gift products had once again been made by some of the ladies from the SHH committee and they needed to be sold. A website was set up for online sales and together with socially distanced open-air pop-up stalls around the village the Christmas Market raised a lot of funds to be shared between the 4 hospices.

From 2021 to the present day a one-day Christmas Market is held in it's new home at Speen Church.
