Fundraising - 2021 - Speen Helping Hospices (SHH) Fundraising in Chiltern Villages

SHH - Speen Helping Hospices and 2021 - From February to December

The first fundraising event in 2021 was in February when SHH ran a Valentine's Dinner Raffle. This was for a chance for two lucky couples to win a dinner for two delivered to their home on Valentine's Day. It included a cocktail, canapes, 3 course meal, chocolates, and champagne.

On the 5th February 2021 Jane Oury a fantastic supporter of Speen Helping Hospices passed away. Her family requested donations to Medical Detection Dogs and Speen Helping Hospices. The SHH committee is very grateful for over £750 of donations that have been made in Jane's memory.More detailed information here

The second fundraising event in 2021 - "Afternoon Tea Box" from Speen Helping Hospices - Sunday 14th March 2021 On the same day as Mothers Day an opportunity to say thank you to a special person that day. Over £1,00 raised by this event

Along with the "Easter 2021 promotion" on the SHH online shop website , a "pop up" outside stall was set up on Wednesday 31st March and this had an an excellent demand. Amanda, Ceri, Sally and Gráinne from the SHH Committee took it in turns to look after the "pop up.

__ The weather was very warm and people came into Speen from the local area to buy the Easter themed products including Easter egg cosies with a Cadbury Creme Egg made by Janet Beeks

Fantastic June weather for the second SHH Jazz in the Park at Great Hampden Crickert Ground, Buckinghamshire on Sunday afternoon 13th June with The Martin Hart Quartet and Guest appearance of Frank Walden Jazz Saxophonist and Johnny Thirkell Trumpet and flugelhorn player.

Speen Fete 2021 (click on image below for PDF)

Speen Fete 2021 was held on Saturday 3rd July and the organisers were fundraising for Speen Helping Hospices and Speen Village organisations. We would like to thank the Speen Village Fete committee for their generous support. Speen Fete 2021 raised over £4,500 and presented £1,100 for Speen Helping Hospices and £200 for the One Can Trust foodbank .

SHH Pub nights are back! SHH "Summer is Here" pub night held in Speen Friday 9th July from 7pm to 10.30pm - Outdoors social distance event in the garden at Fir View Cottage, Grubbins Lane (off Flowers Bottom Lane), Speen. A great evening for neighbours and friends from Speen and North Dean.

This event made a profit of over £300

Michael Brown

On the 11th June, local resident and supporter of Speen Helping Hospices, Michael Brown passed away. His family requested donations to Speen Helping Hospices. The SHH committee is very grateful for the generous donations made in Michael's memory. Michael's cousin Barbara Lucas founded the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity following the death of her father in Stoke Mandeville Hospital as there was no hospice available in the area. (Florence Nightingale in Aylesbuy is one of the four local Hospices that SHH fundraises for).

In addition Michael and his wife Valetta had set up a trust with CAF - The Charities Aid Foundation and when Michael passed away £11,408 was shared equally under Speen Helping Hospices name to Helen & Douglas Home, Rennie Grove Hospice Care, South Bucks Hospice and the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity.

Wine Tasting event by Lloyd's Wines __

The group - was founded in 2001 by Suzi Rose and called the Speen Supporters Group, in 2013 it became The Speen Group. In 2014 became the Speen Helping Hospices as this name described the purpose of the group and the full objective of raising money for local Hospices. The group has raised over £159,384 since it was established in 2001.
